Carnival King For Askam 2
The ripples have stretched far and wide now that the Askam Carnival Committee has officially split in two. The Traditionalists who support the traditional view have managed to keep hold of the name, however the Modernists who support the modern view have become, Crazy ColourTastic Carnival Club.
The two groups are determined to have the Carnival on the same day, as neither will give way to the other and both have worked out that the optimum day for population concentration is the 15th of July.
Askam Carnival Committee are travelling round Askam by the traditional route, starting from the Lots Bridge, past the school, down and round Steel and Sharp streets, making their way down Duke Street, then Duddon Road and finishing on the K Shoe club car park. The Crazy ColourTastic Carnival Club will route theirs from the K Shoe club car park round the same route to their opposition and ending by the Lots Bridge.

The Parish Council have tried to intervene in the row, approaching both camps by suggesting they attend a negotiation session with the top man from the UN, but both camps replies are unprintable. Each camp has promised to do unspeakable things to their opposition if they, "Think they can bully us about".
We at the Askam Herald will continue to report on the Carnival plans, as we believe that this year will really end in an almighty melee, much promised in previous years. Tickets for the prime Whinfield Gardens seating area will be available from this site nearer to the time. Although we do not want to look like we are profiteering from the proposed carnage, tickets will be priced at £300 each, with one percent of the cover charge going to a local charity.
