Find inner strength with outer nakedness…
by Barbara Boiler

It’s time to dust down that birthday suit and join in the fun as Petra Mabeline brings her naked yoga classes to Askam Town Hall. At the moment Petra holds two classes a week, although due to popular demand this could well increase to four.
‘The whole process is a spiritual journey, an awakening of our true selves,’ Petra explains. ‘Our skin is released by the removal of our outer garments. As we work through gentle postures, breathing deeply, our pores breathe with us.’
Petra tells me that her yoga classes are suitable for all ages and physiques. Her classes are mixed, ‘as underneath our different disguises, we’re all just lumps of flesh and blood,’ she reminds me.
Helen Mould-Smith makes the journey over from Barrow every week with her best friend Sue. ‘At first I was a bit self-conscious, well I suppose everyone’s a bit wary about having their wobbly bits on show. Sue was a bit worried about her stretch marks, but as it is we do most of it with our eyes closed anyway.’

The bare facts
· Clothes restrict your flexibility by a whopping 34½ %.
· Naked flesh absorbs beneficial airborne bacteria that help give skin a healthy glow.
· The more people we expose our bodies to, the more comfortable we feel about ourselves, in our mind and in our life.
For more information check out Petra’s website, or better still, I’ll just see you there!

Let Barbara take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of Askam…
…She’ll show you some things that will make you think twice about your expensive beauty regime.
Yes, it’s true, so next time you’re out and about in Askam take a plastic bag or a wheelbarrow and make use of the following.

Freshly cut grass (a great acne remedy)
Discarded bricks (use red brick dust as a rouge on cheeks, or mix with a little water to create an irresistible, long lasting lipstick)
Bits of coal (work wonders as an eye shadow, or mix with a little water to make liquid mascara. You could apply this using an old toothbrush)
Discarded tins (Cut tins carefully and smooth down/fold over sharp edges. Trim to appropriate size and voila, a fantastic make up mirror to carry in your handbag)

These are just a few examples of the beauty benefits that line our streets. For more information, why not come on my guided tour and demonstration on Wednesday to see what else is on offer?
(Don’t forget to bring your bags wheelbarrow/pram. Entry is £1.50. Plastic carriers 20p each. Book now to reserve your place.)
