Welcome

Many people might have a doubt whether one has to install TV aerials for each Television separately. No, it is not so. A single aerial is enough to provide a signal to multiple televisions provided you have a multipoint system and satellite points for the televisions.

TV Aerials - Get To Know The Basics

TV aerial which is also called as TV antenna is required to receive broadcast television signals. There are two types of TV aerials: indoor or outdoor. It is necessary for one to understand the difference between the indoor and outdoor installation before deciding what is best for your TV.

Indoor installation: This involves the installation where the TV aerial is mounted on top of the television set or by the side of the television set inside the house. Though this type of antenna looks easy to be mounted, they do not pick up signals easily like outdoor antennas.  The installation is very simple; the user has to plug in the antenna to the television receiver and place it in a position where the signal is good. However one should go for indoor antenna only if reception is very good in the area and there is no possibility of having an antenna outdoors.

Outdoor installation: This involves setting one at the top of the house probably on the attic or terrace. This includes conductor of different lengths as it can receive signals of different frequencies. The antenna can be adjusted to the direction of the source signal to receive the broadcast signal properly. The outdoor antenna is installed differently based on the area where the house is located. Usually, the antenna is attached to a normal size pole on the attic to receive signal. This is not the same for all regions when it has to be mounted on a hilly area; the antenna is placed at a higher point where the signal is received properly.

Points to be noted while installing antenna

When you are planning to install an antenna at your place, there are several points that have to be considered. Below are some of the important ones. One might have got confused about the new digital TV aerial. But one must understand that there is no special digit TV aerial; instead of calling it as digital they may be called as modern TV aerials. An antenna will receive signals and that is all it is there. The newer aerial can function or accept signals better than the older one and are more efficient in handling them than the older one. So, it is better to call them modern aerials rather than digital aerials.

Antennas of olden days were good only to receive analog signals and with this antenna, one cannot get good reception of signals. One should hence install special antennas that are designed to receive digital signals.  Many people might have a doubt whether one has to install TV aerials for each Television separately. No, it is not so. A single aerial is enough to provide a signal to multiple televisions provided you have a multipoint system and satellite points for the televisions.

You might have known about HD. But one might wonder whether they can get all the HD channels if they have digital aerial installed. No, that is not possible. You will get HD Channels only if you have High definition TV at home. The antenna must be installed in a place where one can get good reception.

Safety Measures

When one has to deal with installing electrical items, it is better to do it with the professional’s aid. TV aerials are also good conductors. When the TV aerials are installed outside, there are possibilities of the aerials struck by the lightning. So, it is better to use a lighting arrestor to save oneself. Installing TV aerials at regions which have bad weather most of the times must be designed with precaution so that they can withstand the weather condition and does not cause any problems.

The TV aerials must be placed in such a position where it will not cause any problem even if they fall and one must keep in mind that they do get interfere with the electricity line under any situation. Take precautions while installing or adjusting the antenna as you may slip from the roof if you are careless while operating on it. Television forms the main part in entertaining one. Similarly, TV aerials are very important for providing good signals. Consider the points specified above and take care of all the safety measures while installing the TV aerials. Do not hesitate to call the aerial installation force to install them for you safely.
